A Truly unique cider experience

We make artisanal craft ciders from the heritage apples and pears that grow on Salt Spring Island.  Our cider is sold in private liquor stores throughout BC, and we also have a lounge at the cider house where customers can enjoy our ciders alongside thoughtfully prepared food from our restaurant.  It’s a beautiful farm setting, with all day sun, overlooking the orchard and valley below.  Families and pets are most welcome.

Salt Spring Island was once the largest producer of apples in B.C., and the island is still covered in apple trees that are over 100 years old. This history is the reason that we have an apple festival each year, displaying over 450 different varieties of apples that still grow on the island. This variety of apples is unmatched even by the Okanagan, and the complexity it offers our cider makes it  truly unique.

OUR Wild Apple picking

Our apple picking operation, which gathers over 250,000 lbs of apples annually from properties all over Salt Spring makes a great contribution to the island community.  People describe this process as a real community service, as we not only help people manage their apples, but also provides financially. We’ve found the process brings people together, and many take pride in the product, knowing that they have had a part in it.  In this way, our cider serves to represent Salt Spring.

We also think it’s important to make an honest product, rooted in farming.  We gather apples, press them, and ferment it into cider...that’s it.  When people come to the cidery, this idea is reinforced further, because they can see how the process happens, and where it happens. Visit us on Salt Spring Island to enjoy the rustic, farm experience, sip on our ciders, and take the experience home with you.

“We want our cider to reflect the history of farming and apple cultivation on Salt Spring. We want to be sort of a bastion of that. And interestingly, it’s the best thing we can do for our cider. Salt Spring apples are amazing.”
